My story

Hi there, I’m Baxter! I’m an 11-year-old cocker spaniel with a gorgeous buff coat that still turns heads at the dog park. Sure, I’m carrying a few extra pounds at 33lbs, but hey, I’m working on my beach body with my foster family’s help! ? Life has been quite the adventure lately. These nice ladies picked me up and told me they would find me a new forever home. I’m working to refresh my housebreaking skills (I’m getting the hang of it, I promise!), and learning how cozy a crate can be for nighttime sleeping. Who knew? ? I’m quite the social butterfly with other dogs, and enjoy their company. Those mysterious creatures called cats? Well, they fascinate me and I’m ok if they get close…I’m too dignified to chase them around like some common retriever. We can all live together! Little humans? As long as they are dog-savvy and gentle with me then I’m sure we can live together too! My favorite spot in the whole world is my dog bed by the front window. It’s my command center where I can supervise the neighborhood and alert everyone when visitors arrive – I take my security duties very seriously! Sometimes my humans laugh when I announce the mailman’s arrival, but that’s important intelligence, people. I absolutely love my chew toys and giving kisses to my favorite humans. Speaking of humans, I much prefer having company around during the day. I’m not really a “home alone” kind of guy – I believe life is better when shared with good people. My hearing isn’t quite what it used to be, but that just means I’m even more focused on the humans I love. I walk pretty well on a leash, though I’m still perfecting my technique – think of me as a work in progress with excellent potential. I’m looking for a family who understands that the best things in life – like me – are worth waiting for. Someone who appreciates a distinguished gentleman who knows the value of a good nap, a squeaky toy, and loyal companionship. Could that be you? If you think so, please submit an application through the FCCR website, www.floridacockerrescue.org. ADOPTION FEE: $285 *Wags and kisses,* **Baxter** ?

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Baxter, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
