My story

HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Brian bmadison@arl-iowa.org.---- A super cuddler who loves to be next to you and follows you wherever you go; likes to be wherever her people are - Loves to play with stuffed animals, and her foster family says that while she's pretty calm in general she does get the zoomies and loves to run around the yard as fast as she can with a stuffed animal in her mouth - Has slept both in bed with her foster family and in her crate and does fine with either - Enjoys walks and does well on a leash - Likes meeting adults and warms up quickly - Knows sit and is treat-motivated - Is pretty much housetrained but has had occasional accidents if left alone, so her foster family has been keeping her in her crate when they're gone and she has done very well with that- Is OK with being picked up and held, and it seems to calm her when her stomach is gurgling - Can be vocal when she encounters sights or sounds that make her uncomfortable; may do best in a quiet, low-key home - Has been very uncomfortable around children, both young ones and school-age, so she's looking for a predictable, teens-and-up home right now - Has gotten along OK with her foster family's dogs but doesn't always like to share her people or have her space invaded; will need to meet any resident dogs before adoption and might prefer to be the only dog in her home - Lived with a cat in her foster home and initially wanted to chase, but eventually could exist neutrally in the same room while supervised; will need a slow introduction to any cats in her new homeAll adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
