OZZIE WILL ATTEND A MEET AND GREET ADOPTION EVENT AT PETCO IN HIGHLAND AUGUST 23 12:30 - 2:30. 2277 FORD PARKWAY. COME FOR A CUDDLE AND MEET THIS HANDSOME DUDE. Ozzie was arrested by police in a small town for vagrancy and was incarcerated at the local pound (actually the area vet clinic). All available cells were full and little Ozzie was in pretty tough shape so they debated putting him down. Then he looked at them and wagged his tail. That tail wag saved his life. Clinic staff contacted PUP and pleaded with us to take him. A PUP volunteer visited him and couldn’t resist so Ozzie came into the PUP rescue program. Ozzie is a sweet boy who is playful with other dogs, loves attention, especially from kids, is a tiny bit shy but knows how to have a good time. He bonds to his people and is an all around nice fella. DNA testing from dogs from the area often shows 15-25 different breeds. Most have some shepherd, husky, herding dog like Aussie and even the biggest dogs often have some Chihuahua in the mix. We suspect Ozzie is a Swiss White Shepherd mix, but that is best guess. We believe he will be a mid-size dog when he is full grown but that is best guess. Since we have no idea who mom or dad are and are guessing at his age (we think 15 weeks), his adult weight is best guess. His adopter should be prepared to love him if he is larger or smaller than predicted. Ozzie is living in a foster home with other puppies and an adult dog that is providing adult supervision. He is playful and enjoys going outside to play and potty but is not yet fully house broken. While he loves his outdoor time, especially if he gets to camp out on a giant dog bed, he is just as happy hanging out inside with his person. He has gone on a few leash walks. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Ozzie has been vet checked, vaccinated including rabies, and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. https://youtu.be/sdn7DhZYa18 Includes Mato
