My story

Meet Shawnee Shawnee is a gentle, observant kitty who’s still learning to trust the world. She hasn’t been around children and would likely do best in a quieter home where she won’t feel overwhelmed. While she’s not one to scratch or bite, she may retreat and hide when she’s scared. Over time, Shawnee has been gaining confidence by watching how other cats interact. She isn’t the type to immediately seek out cuddles, but she shows her affection in her own quiet ways. When you reach out to pet her, she sometimes freezes or flattens herself down—but then the purring starts. It’s as if she can’t help but enjoy the attention once she feels safe. She’s not a fan of being picked up, but she does like being near her people, watching what you’re doing, following from a distance, and gradually working up the courage to get closer on her own terms. With patience, love, and the right environment, Shawnee will continue to blossom into the affectionate companion she’s meant to be. When it’s playtime, Shawnee’s personality really shines. She loves string toys, lounging in cardboard scratchers, and perching in cat trees where she can observe everything. She’s also a bit of a foodie—wet food is the way to her heart! Shawnee is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the time and space she needs to trust. In return, you’ll get to watch the sweetest transformation as she grows into the loving cat she’s destined to be.
