My story

Introducing Summer! She’s about two years old and on the petite side at 56 lbs. She is available for adoption in Texas and New England. This “sweet as can be” girl has a quite story to tell! Summer was roaming the streets and found herself pregnant and then jailed in a shelter where the management wanted to euthanize her because they had no room for puppies. The animal control officer put her foot down and threatened to quit, while quickly contacting Lucky Lab! Our amazing volunteers came to the rescue! We took her and her little family in where she was quiet, shy and the very best mama we’ve seen in a long time. In fact, you may have seen her little family, “The Weather in Texas Litter,” hence where this sweet Mama got her name, Summer. 🥰 Summer loved her sweet puppies and took great care of them. All of the babies are adopted and now it’s mama’s turn to get to have all the attention and find a furever home. Summer is quick to warm up to people but a little slow to warm to new dogs. But it doesn’t take her long and in no time she’s part of the pack. Summer has lived with several dogs, 4 in her maternity foster home and now 3 in her current foster home. She loves to be with them and in on the action. She loves going outside and “hunting birds and squirrels” and will give them a run for the money, although she’s not been successful at getting them to “play” with her! We suspect she’s not trying to make a new friend! 😃 Summer also lives with a cat in her current foster home, and can be super chill with the kitty, but if the kitty runs Summer likes to chase her. So we think she can do well with a dog savvy kitty. Summer also enjoys laying around with her people or fur siblings as well as a good game of fetch. Summer is eager to please and will make someone a great companion. Summer is spayed, microchipped, has appropriate vaccinations, is house trained and crate trained.
