Please contact Emma Ohlsson (emma.ohlsson@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Adorable girl looking for her forever people! SADIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Sadie Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year old as of August 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 35 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Puerto Rico shelter. Special adoption considerations: Sadie is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Sadie would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Sadie is Looking For: A home where she can get out her wiggles and then curl up for snuggle time. At one year old, Sadie is in that great late-puppy stage where she is primed to learn new tricks, go on adventures, and make new friends. She's ready to grow and learn with your family and would love to soak up all the love you have to give her! Since Sadie has a big adjustment to make, coming from Puerto Rico, she'll be looking to her adopters to encourage her to experience all the wonderful things about being a pup! Interested in being Sadie's world wingperson? She'd love to meet you! What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
