Hooligan aka Hooli apx 9-10 months (has all his brand new shiny adult teeth. ) 47 pounds. Boxer mix 🤷‍♀️ really he is just a little weird mutt. Hooligan came to us in some of the worst shape we have ever seen a dog. Extremely dehydrated, malnourished, and emaciated, and in so much pain due to the severe inflammation of having mange that left sores all over his body, including the bottom of his paw pads. He could not hold his head up, he could not stand or take more than a couple steps , when he did, his limbs would be floppy and collapse out from under him. He did not have one tuft of hair on his body, he was one giant naked sore. It was heartbreaking. We saw Hooligan at the San Antonio animal shelter when we went to pick up another dog. He was curled into a little ball, just shaking. I whistled and called out to him and even open the door, and he would not even lift his head to look at me, he was scared in pain and terrified of everything around him. We are not sure where Hooli was before he got here, but it was not good. I am certain someone severely abused this dog, mentally and physically and that he most likely was kept in some sort of small enclosure where he could not fully stand up or move properly. It did not take long for Hooligan to start healing from his physical wounds. His hair has all come back into this gorgeous brindle coat. He is stronger and has gained a lot of weight and muscle. In Two months he went from 19 pounds to 47 pounds. He is very bowlegged in his rear limbs. We did have x-rays done on Hooligans entire body, there is no brakes or injuries and his growth plates look good so we are guessing that because of the trauma he suffered as a baby his limbs just grew wonky most likely from containment and poor nutrition. Hooligan is wonderful with all other animals. He is the most gentle dog you’ll ever meet in your entire life. He is a quiet, loving, gentle soul. He is good with cats. He is good with small animals. He is good with bigger animals. he is good with well mannered children and men, however he is scared of his own shadow. Hooligan is an extremely submissive dog. A lot of times the smaller dogs actually bully him. He has zero aggression. He does not have food aggression. He does not have toy aggression. He has no resource guarding. He does not jump on people. I have still to this day not seen him full sprint run, which is quite sad, but I hope he does one day know what a zoomie is . He does not walk on a leash and harness in unfamiliar areas. He will just freeze so that is something that will need to be worked on especially with his size. A fenced yard would be great to give Hooligan an area to learn how to play and be a pup. I often have to carry Hooligan. I still have to pick him up in and out of the car as he unable to jump in the car by himself. So whomever adopts him needs to physically be able to pick him up because it is going to take some time for his confidence in a new situation to be where he will move anywhere you need him to go. He was the sweetest boy at the vet veterinarian clinic. They just said he was so scared. It was hard to even examine him because they would try to pick him up and he would just lay back down. It takes him a couple times of meeting somebody before he will really look at them he will cower and hold his head down, but he is really getting much better at this since he has met several people here at the ranch and is starting to do very well meeting new people. He loves to make new dog and people friends . I often just lay next to him and hug him and he gives me that big rescue sigh then nuzzles into me. For the right person, this dog is going to be your everything. He just has one of those soul dog auras about him. He sees you and you see him, and he has been through some tough stuff, and he will be there for your tough stuff. I adore this boy, you will too. He also squats to pee so that is a bonus, Hooli needs someone loving, patient, kind, and gentle, but also someone that can give him the time, training and attention for him to learn to be his best self, to learn confidence, to take walks or go to the park or pup cups . He blossoms more and more every single day we can’t wait to see him in full bloom 💜 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given.
