My story

Meet Sylvia — The Low-Rider Lovebug 🐾 If you’re looking for a pint-sized sweetheart with a big heart, Sylvia might just be your girl. She's a petite senior lady with adorable dachshund-length legs that give her a comical waddle and a unique, endearing style when she trots across the room. Personality & Quirks Sylvia adores human attention — she’ll wag her tail like crazy at your feet, hoping for pets or a treat. She can be a little shy at first touch, but once she decides you’re a friend, she melts right in. Around other dogs, she likes her personal space, but once she’s set boundaries, she’s happy to coexist. Her short legs also mean she’s hilariously unimpressed with tall, wet grass — we’re talking “belly-high” at just 3 inches! She has a stuffed teddy bear (bigger than her head!) that she sometimes carries around like treasure. She’s quiet (only barked once in two weeks!), great on a leash, good in the car, and has mastered the art of napping in sunny spots. Daily Life & Ideal Home Sylvia’s days are currently on the mellow side while she goes through heartworm treatment — the rescue will cover the cost after adoption. She’s otherwise in great spirits and moves just fine, even with an old rear leg injury. Indoors, she enjoys snoozing, people-watching out the window, and short strolls (as long as the grass isn’t too soggy!). She’d do well in an apartment or house, with or without a fenced yard. She’s fine with calm dogs, gentle kids, and a laid-back lifestyle. Puppies or pushy big dogs aren’t really her thing. Health Notes Sylvia is current on her vaccines and preventatives, microchipped, and spayed. She is heartworm positive, but on the mild side and feeling good — treatment is straightforward and paid for by the rescue. She’s also got a little wear on her front teeth but eats kibble and soft food with no problem. If you’ve got a cozy spot and a little patience for a sweet senior girl, Sylvia will repay you in tail wags, quiet companionship, and a lifetime supply of love. 💛

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sylvia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
