My story

Meet Big Betty ? Meet Big Betty ? This 3-year-old Mastiff–Pitbull mix has been through more than we can imagine. Found as a stray with a muzzle on, she arrived at the shelter beyond shut down — scared, confused, and unsure who she could trust. ? But Big Betty has come a long way. She’s learning that people can be kind and patient. She now enjoys walks with volunteers, has discovered that brushing feels pretty nice, and is even starting to greet friends at the front of her kennel instead of hiding outside. Betty is not a “pet me all over” kind of dog — for her, less is more. She needs calm, patient people who will give her the space and time to blossom. A quiet home with no young children and, if other dogs are present, a gentle, laid-back companion would be best. What Betty needs most: ? A safe space to decompress ? No muzzles — they set her back emotionally ? Someone who understands fearful dogs and will move at her pace ? Walks, brushing, and gentle companionship She’s made huge strides in a short time, but she needs out fast to keep progressing. With the right person, Big Betty will continue to heal and discover the joy she’s been missing.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Big Betty, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
