Morty is fostered in Sioux City, IA Meet Mordechai or “Morty Moo” – a small boi with a big heart (and big attitude)! Moo’s previous owners dropped him off at the animal shelter and said: ‘unmanageable’. He was just ayoung boi, about a year old – unneutered, untrained, and overwhelmed. Well, he may be a bit on the naughty side, but he is definitely manageable. Now at 26 pounds, Morty has come a long way from the scared and underweight dog shivering at the back of the kennel in the shelter. He loves to snuggle, get belly rubs, and play in the yard with other dogs. He is very intelligent and he has learned to open the kitchen gate latch and the dog food container. He quickly learned commands ‘sit’ and ‘shake’, but usually chooses to ignore commands ‘off’, and ‘kennel’. He is still learning good manners, so further training is important. Morty is housebroken and has never had an accident in the house. He loves to take walks and doesn’t pull on the leash. He gets along great with the resident Aussies. While he usually cannot handle being in the kennel by himself; he will spend time in the kennel with the other dog. He prefers not being alone. Morty sleeps in his doggie bed in the bedroom, to make sure nothing happens to his people while they sleep. Morty eats everything and is especially fond of vegetables – cabbage, cucumbers, broccoli – all these are treats! Luckily, he has not figured out that these he could eat them straight fromthe garden. He also loves trash – especially plastic. He won’t eat it, but he loves to chew it – bottle caps, chapstick, pens, and such. Morty is a bit apprehensive with most people at first. He warms up to women quite fast but has problem with some men. Morty loves cats – sometimes too much. He does not understand that cats have different playing style. But most of the time the resident cat is ignored. We are unsure about children so prefer a home without kids under age 12. Morty is 100% certifiably adorable and looking for an adopter who will continue his training, socialization, and love. Morty Needs: a home with a secure, fenced-in yard a dedicated owner to continue his training Wants: Someone who will snuggle and rub his belly and take him out for walks Another confident dog may be beneficial – but not essential Morty is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.
