My story

RubyWith my old-fashioned name and my classic Calico coat, you might think I am older than 3-years-old. But it`s true. I am an 11.3-pound, lady cat, already spayed and eager for a fresh start. My owner surrendered me to HSHC on July 25 because she could not afford to take care of me. I haven`t been here very long, so I am still trying to wrap my head around my change of address and all the new human beings I encounter. Initially, I was reluctant to do anything that would call attention to me. Hiding out in the Kitty Kasa seemed like the perfect way to shut out the noise and confusion of the Cattery. I recently moved into a three-level Condo, which gives me plenty of room, but I still prefer to stay in my cozy nest. Today, when the interviewer lady (IL) stopped by to visit, I remained in my spot. However, after sniffing her hand, I allowed her to brush against my cheek, and that was the end of my standoff. Though I didn`t actually leave my Kasa, I stuck my head and neck out the opening, allowing the IL free rein of my head, neck, and upper back. Ooooooo, this was so nice and relaxing, I almost forgot to stay put. I didn`t want her to leave, but as she was closing my door, I began nibbling at my breakfast. I have a history of UTI`s which are agonizingly painful, but cats rarely show they are in pain. The HSHC has put me on a diet that promotes better urinary health. This diet is designed to alter urine pH levels to reduce the risk of stone and crystal formation, as it has antioxidants & omega-3 fatty acids, controlled calcium, low sodium, and added potassium citrate. This is a prescription diet, and I must eat only this to avoid those pesky bladder infections. Things that make me happy are being held like a baby or lying on your chest and napping. I used to live with my feline sister, and we were BFFs. I love indulging in catnip before taking a long nap. I am more of a `watch the party from the edge of the room` kind of cat, rather than a `look at me! I`m amazing` type of cat.
