Cedric is a 2 year old, 75ish lb, male Goldendoodle, sadly being rehomed at no fault of his own. This is what his owner says: "Cedric came into my life in April 2024 after he was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption when his original owner couldn’t be located. The adoption agency believed Cedric had likely been mistreated or lost and alone for some time. He was timid, unsure, and understandably hesitant—but also incredibly sweet and deserving of a second chance. When I adopted Cedric, I was in a position to meet the needs outlined by the agency: a fenced-in yard, another dog for companionship, and a patient, understanding home. At the time, I had all three. My female mixed-breed dog, Dolly, immediately bonded with him. Over the next few weeks, Cedric began to settle in—gaining confidence, exploring his new surroundings, and enjoying the freedom and peace that came with having a large, fenced yard. It gave him space to play, roam, and feel safe from the overwhelming sights and sounds that made him anxious. Unfortunately, my personal situation has recently changed. I sold my home and relocated to Louisville, where I now live in an apartment without a yard or the privacy that a house provided. This transition has been incredibly difficult for Cedric. Since the move, he has shown clear signs of distress—panting excessively, losing his appetite, having irregular bathroom habits, barking more, and becoming increasingly sensitive to noises. Loud sounds cause him to panic and try to flee, and his overall wellbeing has declined. To be honest, he’s not adjusting, and it’s not getting better. This is, without question, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. I’ve loved and cared for many dogs in my life, but Cedric will be the first I’ve ever had to consider rehoming. Dolly has adapted well to apartment living, but Cedric has specific needs that I can no longer meet—and because I love him so much, I know it’s time to put his needs first. Cedric deserves a home with a fenced-in yard, a calm and stable environment, a companion dog who loves to play, and someone who can be present with him—offering the patience, time, and attention he needs to thrive. He is not aggressive—toward people or other dogs—and once he warms up, he’s incredibly affectionate. He loves running freely, playing in open spaces, and cuddling up when he feels secure. He does well at the groomer (though he’s not a fan of the blow dryer), and while he walks okay on a leash, his tendency to startle easily means his person will need to be attentive and gentle. I am committed to finding Cedric the loving, supportive home he deserves. Cedric just needs someone with more time than I have to offer. I will be required to travel quite a bit with my new job and I worry that his separation anxiety will worsen with yet another change coming at him." He is a very sweet dog that needs someone who can have the patience to assimilate him into a new home environment. If you feel you are the home that Cedric needs, and can thrive in.... a house with another playful and friendly dog, with a fenced in yard for him to play in and someone home more than not, please fill out a app at GRRAND.org ##2488809##
