VIOLET-Pitbull Mix This poor baby has had a rough life. Approximately 8-10 months old, she is scarred up pretty good on her face and legs-obviously fighting to survive! She is beyond sweet and very bonded to Morty, where they play, wrestle, and sunbathe all day. However, Violet has become reactive to one of my dogs after spending a week with him just fine. At first, we thought this was due to them both being toy-focused, but now it has moved past that to every time she sees him. Other dogs of mine, she is just fine with! Violet has a very sad face, and her face is also a bit misshapen-not sure why, but it adds to her cuteness! I am still in debate as to whether there is some hearing issues with her. Some sounds she reacts to, but lots she won’t. She also seems afraid of the dark outside because she hides in a corner to lie down, another sign that she was living on the streets. Violet loves all people she meets, loves to play fetch, does great in her kennel all night, and has put on some much-needed weight. We do have trainers on our volunteer team to help work through this if you are willing to work on her training so she can be more adoptable. Can you be Violet's medical foster home? Email eaplevergreen@eapl.com. Or complete our foster home application https://eapl.com/foster-application/ We look forward to hearing from you. Medical Violet : When Violet arrived, she was treated for hookworm. After the treatment ended, we retested the stool two weeks later, and hookworm antigens were still present. Vet has decided to do monthly heartworm for two months per a second dose of that will be in September 1. After that, a new stool sample is to be taken to see if antigens are still present. If they are, we may need to do a more aggressive form of medication to help treat her. Vet and I also discussed that in greyhounds, sometimes this happens, and they never shed the hookworms. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this is not the case for Violet. Stool sample retesting is due approximately at the very end of September. August 12, 2025, 8:41 pm
