My story

Meet Casper — the handsome goofball with a heart as big as his smile. His journey to happiness hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park. He first found himself in isolation at the Humane Society, battling pneumonia. Once in our care, we learned he also had Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome, which made every breath a struggle and left him vulnerable to aspiration pneumonia. But Casper? He’s no quitter. After a successful airway surgery, he’s breathing easy and finally able to live life like every dog should—full of tail wags, zoomies, and sunshine naps. Of course, healing isn’t just about the body—it’s about the heart, too. Casper is currently enrolled in a Board & Train program with our friends at Paddock Paws, learning to build trust, confidence, and calm. Early in training, we discovered Casper is hard of hearing, which explained so much about his past anxieties. With hand signals, a dash of patience, and a whole lot of love, Casper has been absolutely thriving. This boy is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs—he lights up around his canine pals and will happily join in playtime shenanigans. He’s equal parts goofy entertainer and cuddle connoisseur: one minute making you laugh with his silly antics, the next melting into your lap for snuggles.
