My story

Meet Penelope: The Pillow Princess with a Heart of Gold! Quick Facts: Name: Penelope Breed: Chihuahua Age: 2 years Weight: 9 lbs. House-Trained: Yes with consistent routine Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes! Small dogs are best due to her size Good with Cats: Yes, but sometimes growls to assert boundaries Good with Kids: Best in a home without very small children due to her size Energy Level: Low (loves to lounge) About Penelope’s Breed: Chihuahua mixes are known for their loyalty, affection, and strong attachment to their favorite people. They often form deep bonds and thrive in calm, nurturing homes. With their small size and big personalities, they bring a ton of love in a tiny package. Penelope’s Story & Personality: Penelope is a 2-year-old chihuahua weighing in at a perfect 9 lbs of pure love and snuggles. This affectionate little lady is the definition of cozy—she adores curling up in a warm blanket, snoozing on a pillow, or burrowing under the covers for a nap that could last all afternoon. Her favorite place? Right next to her humans, soaking up the comfort of a loving lap. Penelope is wonderfully easygoing and low-energy, making her an ideal companion for a calm household. She enjoys gentle play and daily leash walks around the neighborhood, always trotting along with quiet confidence. She’s potty trained (just needs to stick to her routine), crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs—and even seems unfazed by cats! Though she may take a day or two to warm up, once she does, it’s like she’s always been part of the family. Penelope is great with all adults (she has not been kid-tested yet) and thrives on being near her loved ones. If you’re looking for a laid-back, loving pup who’s more about cuddles than chaos, Penelope is ready to be your devoted little shadow! Penelope’s Ideal Home: • A calm home with or without a yard where she can snooze and enjoy a life of relaxation • A home with or without other pets. She does great with other dogs and most cats, but can be the one in only pet too • A home with a family who will take her on daily neighborhood walks • A home where people are home more often than not as she loves to be around her family! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!August 12, 2025, 1:18 pm
