My story

Meet Scruffy! Scruffy, sweet, and full of personality is a 4-year-old, 35-pound terrier mix looking for a patient and loving forever home. Scruffy came to rescue from a southern shelter as part of a humane case. Despite his rough start, he’s blossomed into a playful and curious boy who just wants to be close to his people. Whether he’s cuddled up next to you or playing chase in the yard, Scruffy is happiest when he’s near those he loves. He enjoys playing outside, snacking on treats, and romping around with dogs his size or smaller. Scruffy is a little unsure around larger male dogs, so slow introductions are a must, and he’d do best with a smaller or submissive canine companion. He’s currently living with other dogs and children in foster care. Scruffy is food motivated and crate trained, though he’s still working on potty training and has not yet started formal leash training. He may show signs of food guarding, so separate meal times are recommended. He’s quiet in his kennel overnight and warms up quickly to new people with a little time. A fenced yard is a plus, though not a must, and a family willing to give him time, structure, and continued training will help him thrive. Scruffy is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $350.
