My story

Lick Jonas (AKA Nick Jonas) is a teeny tiny 4lb and 5 month old Chihuahua puppy who has been given what so many dogs in Kern County sadly never get, a second chance at life. He was found with his brother as a stray in Bakersfield, an area completely overwhelmed by a severe overpopulation crisis. He was taken to the local shelter where, due to lack of space and resources, thousands of dogs are euthanized each year. Thankfully, one of our incredible rescuers stepped in and brought him and his brother to Shelter Hope for a fresh start. Now safe and settled into a loving foster home, Lick Jonas is thriving! This cheerful little pup absolutely loves to prance around the yard and wrestle with his doggie friends. He’s affectionate and enjoys being close to people, soaking up all the cuddles he can get. His foster tells us he sleeps well at night, especially when he has other canine companions nearby. Bursting with joy and sweetness, Lick Jonas is ready to find a forever home where he can be truly loved. —---- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please Keep in Mind: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt.
