My story

Jack Daniel is a teeny tiny 3lb and 5 month old Chihuahua puppy who has been given what so many dogs in Kern County sadly never get, a second chance at life. He was found with his brother as a stray in Bakersfield, an area completely overwhelmed by a severe overpopulation crisis. He was taken to the local shelter where, due to lack of space and resources, thousands of dogs are euthanized each year. Thankfully, one of our incredible rescuers stepped in and brought him and his brother to Shelter Hope for a fresh start. Now safe and thriving in the stability of a foster home, Jack Daniel has truly blossomed. He is happy and social little pup who loves running in the yard and playing with other dogs. He enjoys spending time with people and happily trails his human wherever they go. He absolutely adores cuddle time and snuggles as well. Smart and a bit mischievous, he can be quite the escape artist at times. His foster tells us he’s also a good sleeper overnight, especially when he has doggie company nearby.
