My story

Meet Newton ACCT-A-226982! Newton is 4-year-old male who came in as a stray on 7/27. The finder noted, “I've tried to feed him wet food but would not eat. Would not move, eat or drink water or wet food. Shy scared quiet, he’s been tucked away in back yard in a corner, he is new to area/outside.” Medical Notes: On 8/4: Newton was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Per an exam on 7/31: -mild dental calculus -abdomen is soft and comfortable on palpation with no apparent masses -mild bruising over medial hindlimbs from recent blood draws. no evidence of petechiae anywhere. -Allowed all handling Assessment: -thrombocytopenia - r/o immune mediate destruction (ITP, vaccine reaction, neoplasia, other) vs bone marrow suppression vs other -CBC: hct 41.5, plt 68 (L) -IH blood smear: plt count 70k Per an exam on 7/30: -Panleuk snap (-) -Patient was observed eating wet food 7/30/25 AM Per an exam on 7/29: “PT was in triage due to not E/D. According to his monitoring sheet, he has not eaten in shelter since his arrival. Objective: -dried fecal material in peri-anal region. Unkempt coat -Abdomen is tense, a bit uncomfortable on palpation -Slightly overweight body condition -Temp of 103.5°F Assessment: -Anorexia -Fever, unknown origin -Parvo snap test: negative -In house CBC/chem10 -FELV/FIV test: neg/neg” Per an exam on 7/27: “PT presented to triage as 3 yr MI dsh , upon exam pt was BAR , pt was in due to not eating and drinking per finder , no visible injuries noticed upon exam , over all WNL.” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
