My story

Scruffy Joe is a 3.5-year-old terrier mix with a heart full of love and 17 pounds of pure resilience. This scruffy little guy has come a long way since arriving at CAMO Rescue. When Scruffy was first rescued, he had just survived being hit by a car, suffering a fractured pelvis. Due to the pain and fear, he was understandably reactive — and heartbreakingly, he landed on the euthanasia list. But CAMO Rescue saw past the fear to the gentle soul underneath and gave Scruffy the second chance he deserved. After surgery and a lot of TLC, Scruffy Joe has made a beautiful recovery and is now ready to find his forever home. While he’s still skittish in new environments and cautious around strangers, Scruffy is blossoming into a sweet, steady companion who thrives with a predictable routine. Scruffy Joe is a leash-walking pro and absolutely adores his walks — but his favorite thing in the world is romping around a fenced yard and soaking up the sun. He’s doing wonderfully with his potty training and shows every sign of becoming the perfect, calm little sidekick once he feels safe. Scruffy Joe is a staff favorite at CAMO Rescue — his journey, resilience, and gentle spirit have captured everyone's hearts. Once he trusts you, his love knows no boundaries. He’ll stick by your side, offering quiet companionship, loyal affection, and the kind of bond that only comes from a dog who truly knows what it means to be rescued. Scruffy Joe gets along well with other dogs who share his gentle energy and respectful play style, and he hasn’t shown any issues with cats — making him a great fit for a calm, pet-friendly household. His ideal home will be one with adults or older children who can offer the patience, consistency, and quiet environment he needs to feel safe and truly thrive. Adoption fee is: $400 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022
