My story

You can apply to adopt Benji now and he will be available to go home on 8/24! Quick Facts: Name: Benji Breed: Terrier Mix Age: Actual birthday: June 23, 2025 Weight: Currently 5lbs House-Trained: Uses pee pads Crate-Trained: Not yet Good with Dogs: Yes! Small dogs are best due to his size Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Best in a home without very small children due to his size Energy Level: Moderate yet calm – playful and happy! Meet Benji: The Chill Pup with a Playful Spark! Benji is a 7-week-old terrier mix who’s mastered the art of balance—he’s calm, collected, and independent, yet still full of that irresistible puppy charm. While his siblings might be super playful, Benji prefers a more relaxed vibe, happily entertaining himself or quietly joining in the fun when the mood strikes. This mellow little guy is already pee pad savvy and mealtime is his favorite daily ritual—he eats like a champ and never misses a bite! He’s got a soft spot for chew toys and enjoys playful moments with his littermates, but he’s just as content doing his own thing. Benji is the kind of pup who brings peace to the chaos and joy to the quiet. If you're looking for a low-key companion with a gentle heart and a playful streak, Benji is your perfect match. About Benji’s Breed: Terriers are known for being outgoing, energetic, and fearless. Many are described as “big dogs in small bodies” due to their bold personalities. They are clever and determined which makes them trainable. They thrive with consistent, positive reinforcement. Many terriers are affectionate and loyal to their families, but it is always important to do proper introductions with new people and unfamiliar dogs as they can sometimes be wary of strangers. Benji’s Ideal Home: • A mix of active/calm home where his new family will continue his training and keep him stimulated • A home without very small children, he would do great with kids aged 7+ • A home with other dogs where he can have a playmate or one with a family who is home more often than not • A home with a yard (fenced is preferred) where he can play as he grows up Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!August 11, 2025, 12:33 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Benji, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
