Corey came to us in the Wildcat Litter on July 3, 2025. He and his siblings were about four weeks old and were anything but wild. After we cleaned them up and fed them, they were as sweet as could be. Two of his siblings were adopted together and a third was adopted to be the companion for an older kitten. Rascal was on a different journey. On July 19, 2025, he was brought to CARE (Carolina Animal Referral and Emergency) with severe eye infections. If a rescue could not take him in, the only option was for him to be euthanized. We have dealt with CARE before with other kittens, and trusted that they would do everything they could to save some sight. On July 25, Rascal had his left eye removed and also had surgery on his right eye to save as much vision as possible. He went through the surgery well and definitely has vision in the right eye. He will likely need one more surgical correction but is otherwise strong, affectionate, and healthy. He loves food and loves his foster brother Corey. They brawl like brothers when they play and then snuggle together for naps. Rascal navigates our home well and has no problem finding his food, toys, and the litterbox. As I write this, Rascal and Corey are wrestling under one of our living room chairs. Since Corey and Rasal are very compatible, we strongly prefer that they be adopted together, and you are guaranteed a bonded pair. We will, however, consider applications for them separately to a home with another cat or a cat-friendly dog. Our nominal adoption fee covers FIV/FeLV testing, deworming, vaccinations, and spay/neuter with a partner clinic. If you adopt Rascal, our rescue will cover future medical expenses related to his eyesight. To set up a visit, drop me a note at cherylsferalsandfosters@gmail.com or PM me. If you are considering adopting, please fill out and submit the adoption contract found in The Adoption Process link on my website (cherylsferalsandfosters.com). In the meantime, you can follow their journey on Facebook: Cheryl’s Ferals and Fosters. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3).
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Corey & Rascal, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
