Name: Merphy         Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix  Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of August 2025        Sex:   Male   Approximate Weight:  14.4 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! He spent one night in a home with a cat and we haven't seen him with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area  foster   Special adoption considerations:   In certain home settings -- where the environment might be loud or more intense -- this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give him confidence.   See this cutie in this video! - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lsNHVMSqu9M   Merphy is Looking For:  This little cutie along with his buddy Meep landed in the shelter through no fault of their own. Right now they're unsure what happened and are a little bit confused - they take just a bit of time to warm up but once they do, aw, they're cute, happy pups. They're both great little pups and don't need to go to a home together. Merphy is a great age. Solidly adult - out of the nutty puppy yips - and has all that wonderful dog energy (small dogs live pretty long!) for sniffy walks and world exploration and all that good stuff. He's ready for his new chapter, the one he hopes is his forever. Is that you? Is he the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Merphy is a dreamboat! He slept through the first night in his crate and whined in the morning to let us know he needed to go outside. He is very people-oriented and wants to be a lap dog. Merphy is happy to come when called; he loves receiving pets, laying on top of you, and giving light kisses. He’s learning how to play with our dogs and can be defensive about his toys. He needs to work on his leash walking as he is easily distracted by all the amazing scents in his new environment. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
