Our adoption contract requires all dogs to be spayed/neutered within ONE Month of adoption or when age-appropriate. Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check.  Other:   Intact Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Puppies generally need the following veterinary care after their adoption: 8 Weeks: Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella Vaccinations. 4 Luv of Dog Rescue completes these vaccinations before adoption. 12 Weeks: Distemper/Parvo Vaccination completed at the veterinarian of adopter's choice. 16 Weeks: Distemper/Parvo & Rabies Vaccinations completed at the veterinarian of adopter's choice. 6 Months: Spay/Neuter surgery. ** Yearly thereafter: All dogs need yearly wellness exams performed by a veterinarian as well as booster vaccinations. **Spay/Neuter surgeries cost between $200-$400 for a neuter surgery and $400-$600 for a spay surgery in the FM Area. Wellness visits can run from $75 to $150 for each visit. If you are thinking of adopting a puppy, it's a good idea to research these costs before adopting by calling the veterinarian of your choice. Ernie would love to play fetch with you ! Foster Home Feedback 8/13/25 Foster Feedback: Robbie, Chip and Ernie (My Three Sons) have been with me about 2 weeks and have come to embrace living in a home and being loved. Typical puppies, they play hard – and sometimes loud – then they sleep. They wake up hungry, eat and begin playing again. They have been strictly indoor pups so far, since they have not the 2nd Parvo/Distemper vaccine. That comes very soon and then they can experience the great outdoors – if the smoke situation allows. They had their wellness visits last week and they all seem very healthy. Ernie is the smallest at about 5 ½ pound, Robbie is 6 ½ and Chip tops the scale at 7 ½ pounds. It’s been such a fun change to have them around since my 3 dogs are 50, 55 and about 70 pounds. No, the puppies are not allowed to play with them due to the extreme size difference. They all meet through a baby gate and gaze upon each other with wonder. They have been doing quite well using puppy pads and, hopefully, the transition to outside bathroom duties goes smoothly. All three have soft, thick coats, not too long in length. I imagine they will all require regular brushing to keep their coat free of matting and lessen any shedding. They love attention and all have very sweet dispositions. They are beginning to love to chew so anything you want to keep intact, like shoes, phones, remotes, etc., will have to be kept away from them. They also love to play with toys, balls and each other. I think Robbie and Ernie will be medium sized but Chip may be a little bigger. Chip is more solidly built with thicker legs and crazy dew claws on his back feet, leading me to imagine he might have a little something extra in him. The other 2 boys have smaller frames but probably won’t be small dogs when fully grown. Puppies are a blank slate – and the effort you put into them will show in the end result. The first year is a LOT of work but any bad memories fade when you end up with a dog you can be proud of, a dog that does well around other people and pets. Even though they are a 12 – 15 year commitment, when it’s time for them to cross the bridge, it will never have been long enough. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org August 17, 2025, 12:21 am
