My story

Burrito!!! Oh gosh our adorable baby Burrito. Rescued from a high kill shelter. The sweetest little Burrito you will ever find! He is apx 3 years old and 9.6 pounds. Unfortunately Burrito is heartworm positive. We typically do heartworm treatment fully before the dog is adopted into a new home. However, Burrito did his first treatment and got terribly ill. We truly thought we were going to lose him. So we are unable to continue the second and third heartworm treatment. This means Burrito will have to do the “slow kill” method which means he needs to stay on heartgaurd or another heart worm prevention year round for the rest of his life . Eventually he may test negative but that can take years. It is sad for him but this is his best option. Burrito loves other animals and is good with cats, dogs and kids. He is shy at first meeting new people and he may cower or hide or tuck tail but a little baby talk and a few treats and he will be in your lap and dancing around being silly. He is a very gentle and loving soul that deserves a family. Burrito has pretty good potty manners here but he did mark a bit when he came in and every once in a while he will pee on something, but it’s not constant. A belly band can be used the first few weeks while he learns his potty manners in a new home . We absolutely adore this little boy and he has been with us for a few months now. It is his turn for a happily ever after ❤️ Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. To get approved please visit our website www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org to fill in an application to adopt.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Burrito, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
