My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Brief description : Dottie is a sweet and inquisitive girl who loves to snuggle and be by your side at all times. Weighing in at about 50lbs, she is a chunky but active girl, especially for a bulldog. Dottie is always up to meeting new people and dogs. She’ll run right up with her little butt and greet you with a few snorts to say hello.   Likes : Loves attention from her humans. She likes to be wherever you are, whether you’re working at your desk, watching TV, or throwing laundry in the washer, she’ll be right there with you. She absolutely loves chasing a soccer ball, but you’ll know when she’s tired out because her snorts get louder.   Dislikes : Dottie is pretty easy going; there’s not much she dislikes. Well maybe getting her ear meds.   Personality : Dottie is very inquisitive and wants to be involved in everything you do. If you’re looking for a snuggle companion, she’s definitely your girl. She can sometimes make the jump up on the couch on her own, but if she fails, she will cry until you hoist her up to be with you. She wants to be right beside you at all times, so watch out, she can trip you sometimes because she’s so close. She also enjoys a good nap in the sun during the day. Sometimes in the evening after dinner, she will get the zoomies for a few minutes, but it usually doesn’t last too long before she’s tuckered out.   Temperament : Very friendly to everyone she meets and just wants them to pet her and tell her how pretty she is. She enjoys the company of other dogs and likes to run and play with them. She’s definitely a lover, not a fighter. She's quick to back down when things get escalated. She’ll roll over on her tummy like ‘ok guys, I’m done’. Energy level : Dottie actually has quite of bit of energy for a bulldog, especially when it comes to playing with her soccer ball. She gets spurts of energy here and there, but other times can be a couch potato. Favorite activities : Snuggling on the sofa, watching a good crime mystery with her foster momma. Playing soccer, she loves chasing the ball and playing keep away.    Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)? : Yes, Dottie is very good with other dogs. She is very passive, not dominant at all. She is good with kids too. She has never shown any aggression toward anyone or anything. Not sure about cats, because she hasn’t been exposed to them.   Housetrained : Dottie is making progress with house-training. As soon as you let her outside, she’ll pee and poop, but you do have to keep an eye on her because she doesn’t always give cues when she has to go potty. She was likely in a crate most her of life prior to coming to MTM, but she’s learning very quickly and is a smart girl.   Crate trained : Yes, Dottie is crate trained, and will go in the crate if you have to run errands, but she prefers to be right where you are.   Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?:  Dottie would do fine either with or without a fenced yard. She has a good recall, but still needs to be leashed for safety.   Walks well on a leash?: Does well on a leash and enjoys taking walks, but not long walks. About a 10 minute walk is her limit.   Challenges : Not many! Dottie is very easy going and adapts quickly to her environment. She’s a sweetheart. She just learned how to do carpeted steps, but has a hard time with deck steps that are more slippery.   Any Medical issues? : Dottie has the typical bulldog wrinkles, so she’ll need to have her nose wrinkle cleaned daily to keep it from getting irritated. Her skin was a crusty mess when she arrived at MTM, but with antibiotics and medicated baths it cleared right up. She’s getting cherry eye surgery, so she may need daily eyedrops for dry eye afterwards, but they can be over-the-counter drops like Refresh, just something to lubricate her eye.   What would be the best kind of home? : Dottie is a very easy going and chill dog who adapts quickly, especially when she’s getting lots of attention. She would do well in a home that gives her plenty of lap-time and snuggles. Dottie gets along with other dogs and loves everyone she meets. However, if you’re looking for a dog to take along to activities, she is NOT an endurance dog, she tires and gets hot quickly. She would only do well if you brought her a doggie stroller to push her around like the princess she is. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed.
