My story

Kato Fostered in Oakville, ON Breed: Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix Age: ~8.5 months old Weight: ~19.5 lbs Gender: Male Health: Vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and healthy If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and gentle companion, look no further — Kato might just be your perfect match. This sweet boy is naturally docile, quiet, and gentle. He’s also very food-motivated (rotisserie chicken is his favorite!), which is the key to his heart and trust. Once he feels safe with you, he’ll happily soak up face, neck, and belly rubs for as long as you’ll give them. Kato’s favorite place to sleep is snuggled in bed with his foster mom and the other dogs, but he’s also happy in his covered crate right next to the bed, where he’ll sleep soundly through the night for about 9 hours without making a peep. 100% house trained Working on leash skills (would benefit from a secure, quiet backyard ) Can be trusted loose at home — not destructive Loves being a Velcro dog and following his human everywhere During the day, Kato enjoys cuddling on the sofa or in bed, soaking up the sunshine in the yard, and quietly watching the world go by. He’s good with other dogs and cats but can be a bit nervous if larger dogs play too rough. Good with Kids: Kato is good with respectful children and would do best in a home with kids 12 and older who understand how to give him space. About the Mix: Kato is the perfect combo of Rat Terrier smarts and Chihuahua charm . This mix means he’s clever, loyal, and full of personality — all wrapped up in a small, snuggly package . Rat Terrier/Chi mixes are often “Velcro dogs,” sticking close to their humans and soaking up all the love . With gentle guidance and a patient heart, they blossom into the sweetest, most devoted companions. Because of the Chihuahua in his mix he can also be shy, cautious, and slow to trust — Kato is looking for a quiet, calm home away from the hustle and bustle. His ideal match is someone with experience with small, nervous rescue dogs who can gently help him gain confidence. Kato is good with respectful people and pets, but big dogs and new people can make him uneasy. With patience, love, and stability , he will blossom into a loyal companion who will never leave your side. If you have the time, experience, confidence & heart to make Kato your new family member, he’s ready to give you a lifetime of love in return! Apply now: https://form.jotform.com/211694512438255 Adoption fee is $900

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kato, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
