My story

   MEET SOPHIE MAY – THE LITTLE FLOWER JUST STARTING TO BLOOM 2 years old | 16 lbs | Dachshund Mix | A Heart Worth Healing   There’s something beautifully quiet and pure about Sophie May — a gentle soul with eyes full of untold stories and a heart that’s only just beginning to understand what love truly feels like.   Born into a life of neglect in a rural Mississippi backyard, Sophie May lived among countless other unspayed, unwanted dogs. No soft bed. No toys. No air conditioning in the brutal summers. No warmth in the bitter winters. Just survival.   But then… her story started to change. Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in, and this innocent little girl took her first step toward hope.   Now in a loving foster home in Nashville, TN, Sophie May is experiencing everything for the first time — a comfy crate, a full belly, gentle human touch, kind voices, clean blankets, and safety. REAL safety.   She’s still shy. She still flinches sometimes. She’s 'almost there' when called. 'Almost there' with potty training. But every single day, she takes a step closer to confidence, closer to connection… closer to love.   Her foster mom is a seasoned Dachshund whisperer, giving her the space and patience she’s never had. And Sophie May is responding — slowly, tenderly, and beautifully. You can see her soft spirit starting to shine.   She’s incredible with other animals — respectful of cats, gentle with chickens, kind with other dogs. She coexists sweetly with a 4-year-old child who understands her need for calm and boundaries.&#239&#184&#143 She's learning to eat like a queen, and she’s beginning to realize: life can be good.   Sophie May doesn’t need a perfect home — she just needs a patient one. A gentle, kind, quiet place where she can continue her journey of healing. One where someone will celebrate the small victories: the first tail wag, the first nudge for pets, the first time she lays her head on your lap.    She’s not broken.
