My story

Meet Minnie, a 5-year-old Border Collie mix with a heart as gentle as her soul. Weighing about 40 pounds, Minnie is still coming out of her shell and learning that the world can be a kind and comforting place. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be close to her person—your quiet shadow, always nearby, always loyal. Her crate is her cozy retreat, a place she finds safety and peace as she continues to build confidence in her new life. Minnie is house trained and has lovely manners, enjoying calm moments either indoors with her people or quietly exploring a grassy yard or forest path. She hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, but with time and reassurance, that might change. Her energy level is on the lower side right now—content to simply be present, soaking in love and safety at her own pace. She loves car rides, walks politely on a leash, and knows basic commands like “sit” and “lay down.” She’s working on “stay” and showing eagerness to learn, especially when supported with kindness and patience. She does well with the male dog in her foster home, especially outside where she’ll even lean against him for comfort. Still, her foster mom believes Minnie might prefer to be the only dog in the home, soaking up all the affection and attention. She’s also good with cats and may do well with older, dog-savvy kids who can be gentle and understanding as she builds trust. Minnie is a sweetheart to the core—timid, yes, but so full of love to give. Her ideal home is a quiet one, without much hustle or unfamiliar commotion. An experienced, patient dog owner who can help her continue to decompress and discover the joys of companionship would be the perfect match. With time, Minnie blossoms into a happy, friendly, and deeply loyal girl who just wants to be loved like the princess she is. Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
