FERN UPDATE!! Sweet Little Fern is doing well in her foster home! She’s growing like a weed and thriving. This sweet girl is part of a double Merle litter and sadly her joints did not form properly. As she grows, she is adjusting wonderful to her disability and it doesn’t slow her down. Some days are hard and she does take meds but those days are far and few between. She is now 11 weeks and 4 lbs. She has one bad leg that likely will have to be amputated but she shouldn’t have any issues being a tripod. If anything it will help has that leg turns out so bad it hinders her abilities. We are not sure exactly what the future holds for this girl but the vet does think she can live a happy — normal life. She could have some early onset arthritis in her joints but nothing that couldn’t be handled with meds. Fern will need a special and patient adopter to help her through her medical issues. Fern has so much life and love. She would thrive in a home with another dog or kids. She loves both. She’s playful and active despite her disability. She’s eager to please and just loves her family and all people. She’s on medical hold for 2-4 more weeks but at that point should be adoption ready. Please consider giving this sweet girl the home she deserves. She didn’t ask for this and we have promised her a happily ever after! If you think you have the perfect home for our perfectly — imperfect girl— please fill out the application below! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy! Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications!
