Zola

My story

This beautiful girl is Zola, a 5-year-old Sheltie Mix who weighs 29.5 pounds. She is house- and crate-trained. She has n’t  been exposed to cats or children yet. Because she can be skittish with fast movements and loud noises, she may do alright with children age six and up. She plays  with toys, plays fetch, and enjoys walks.   Zola loves cuddling and will hop into your lap and lay as long as you’ll let her. Loud noises and sudden movements make her nervous, and she’ll pace and bark if this happens. She calms down quickly with some love and reassurance.   Zola is learning how to go up and down stairs. She  has mastered up and is close to mastering walking down stairs. She’s working on how to properly walk on a leash. Sometimes she lags behind or wraps your legs with the leash while walking in circles around you.    “Zola is energetic when it’s time to be, but also calm and quiet when there’s no playing happening,” says Zola’s foster mom. “She’s not had a single accident inside or overnight in her crate, so I’d say she is fully house- and crate-trained. She seems interested in playing with my 6-year-old male Sheltie, but he’s not interested in playing with her and just walks away.   “I think she’d do great with another playful pup or as an only dog where she’d get all the love and attention. She’d need some reassurance and work on her fear of loud noises. She would be a flight risk if spooked.” Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
