My story

We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs on to their new adopting families leaving August 9th 2025 from Southern California where we are located to the East Coast. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Joey to our trip for the right home 💕 As always, for peace of mind for our adopting families we never ask for ANYTHING up front. Adoption fee/travel costs are always due when we arrive in person with Joey in hand ❤️ Meet our handsome boy Joey! He is a handsome Maltipoo. He turned 2 years of age on 2/5/25. He weighs 17.5 lb. Yes, he is full grown and at a very healthy weight. He is neutered, microchipped, current on all of his vaccines, had a dental cleaning at the time of his neuter, and had an overall great exam with our vet who has cleared him to find a home all his own 💙 He is house trained, and will wait to go outside when asked if he needs to. He is very good about being patient, and knows you won't forget to take care of him so he is definitely one that I recommend having a good schedule for so that you both become accustomed to a routine that works 😊 He is crate trained, and has no issues being in a crate if needed. However, he is not currently in a crate as he is very well mannered in the home. He is usually sleeping on a dog bed near you, on the sofa, or in your lap. He is a total bed dog, and would be fine in a bed all his own next to yours at night but if you have extra space in your bed he will happily lay right next to you, even sharing your pillow so make sure it's a size that will fit both of you comfortably 😁 He is leash trained, and loves his walks. He is very good at walking with you, and is always looking to you for direction. He is a wonderful walking buddy, and will give you a reason to get out and get your steps in for sure! He is wonderful with dogs, and cats alike. He isn't much of a “playmate” with other dogs but will keep them company, or warm at nap time because he is a huge snuggler 🙃 if you have a sweet friend at home for him to join, he would happily do that but his true joy and happiness stems from his person. If you are all he has every single day moving forward then his heart would never be empty 💙 He is not a barker, and has a quiet and calm demeanor overall. He has a very zen temperament and is one of the most laid back guys we have taken in here. While he has this amazing side to him, he also loves to throw around his toys, play fetch, and carry around his stuffies. He is a dog who enjoys these things especially when being shared with his favorite person. He doesn't need much to be happy at all, and just wants someone to love for the rest of his life! He is wonderful at the groomers, and enjoys his spa days. He is such a handsome boy, that we always love seeing him all dolled up at the end of each appointment. He also LOVES road trips, and has done exceptionally well on the trips we have had him on. If you travel, and are looking for a friend to keep you company he will happily be at your side for every single mile driven. Joey's owner was a young mom. She didn't have much support as she lived far from family when she moved out here to be with her partner. After they split up, she decided that it was hard enough to care for her daughter by herself and knew moving back with her parents was a big possibility. She loved Joey but financially couldn't afford his care. She wanted him to have the best life possible so she reached out to us to take him in and find him a home as wonderful as he was. He is an incredible soul, and helped her through one of the toughest times in her life, and she was always going to be thankful for him and his part in her life, but knew their time together came to an end and was grateful to have found us! Joey’s heart is big, and he loves with every single ounce of it. He does attach easily and quickly to his person. If you are looking to be the center of his world, and heart you could never go wrong with adding him to yours 💙 His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_joeyJoey It covers his neuter which went great, his vaccines, microchip/registration, and his dental cleaning. His ears were examined. He had the hair plucked out of both ears, and both were cleaned by our vet. His teeth were examined, and my vet did see tarter build up so he went ahead and did a good clean and polish on his teeth ❤️ Overall his teeth were in great dental health. His physical exam went perfect, and my vet has officially cleared him to find a home all his own 😊 As always, his adoption fee also goes into the care, grooming costs, and training we have personally done with him ❤️❤️❤️❤️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Joey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
