Meet sweet Spyro, a beautiful young girl who can be overwhelmed by the world around her who is trying so hard to be brave. Spyro was found as a stray on a hot day in Philly, where she was in heat distress. Luckily, a member of the shelter saw her in distress and transported her to get the medical attention and air conditioning she needed! Since getting to the shelter, Spyro has been very understandably shut down with all the noise and strangers going by. Once one on one, Spyro opens up quite a bit and loves to take pets and give gentle tail wags. We'd love to see Spyro go into a safe home where her true personality can shine! Spyro is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet her any day from 10am-6pm! Her ears perked back when she saw me and looked at me, still trembling. Eyes were wide. I tossed a few hotdog pieces towards her and she did not get up to eat them. Then when I tossed one on her bed, she ate it right up and the trembling stopped for a moment. Spent another minute tossing hot to her bed. Fearful body language, nothing concerning so I stepped a foot in and lassoed her with the leash while she was on the bed. Wide eyes and intense trembling when I leashed her then she slowly got up and climbed out of the kennel. Leash Skills: She has a weird gait that seems unbalanced but not sure if that is an injury or from fear. Outside in the grass, she sniffed around and tried to make space between us. When a loud noise went by like a siren, she was crouching to the ground. Sociability: In the play yard, let her sniff around for a bit and body language loosened up a lot. No more trembling and came over to explore me- after a few minutes sniffed me out and gave me a few tail wags! After a few minutes, solicited attention from me and ended up taking pets all over with tail wags and a loose body. She takes treats incredibly gently and seems very treat motivated. Dog Interaction: Another dog walked by and she had gentle, soft tail wags, stayed in place without trying to get closer. On leash walked well with minimal pulling. She is more confident as time goes on and feels more comfortable exploring smells. Responsive to leash guidance. Play: No interest in toys. Returning to Kennel: Calmly walked back into the shelter, crouched when we got to her kennel row, then she came forward and easily stepped into kennel with some leash pressure. Color: Gave her blue color due to fear. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull.
