My story

Pepper is in the back of her den, lip licking with dilated pupils. She is initially laying down but gets up to sit and press herself into the back of the den as the den cover is removed, glancing at the open side door. She is able to be coaxed out of the den when softly spoken to, slowly exiting and jumping to the top of her den where she lays at the far back, ducking her head down to hide behind her blanket. Petting on the head is attempted with the scratcher tool, which she allows. Treats are offered which she sniffs but does not eat. Assessor goes to pet Pepper with their hands, which she allows on the head and on her shoulders.Pepper tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without small children. I have lived with cats in my previous home.I lived with children in my previous home.I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 9.4 Age: 3yrs 0mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pepper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
