We have six purebred Shelties who were rescued from a hoarding situation involving multiple breeds and litters. We were informed that they are expected to be on the smaller side and will not exceed 20 lbs as adults. All of them are very friendly and playful. While some may be a little shy at first, they love to cuddle in your lap once you pick them up. These dogs are sweet, affectionate, and gentle. Shelties are also known for their incredible work ethic; they excel in agility, obedience, and herding competitions. In addition to their hardworking nature, they are playful, loyal, and enjoy spending time with their human families. A Sheltie thrives in an active household where they receive daily walks. It is also recommended to engage them in training and agility classes to keep these active dogs stimulated and happy. **Adoption Requirements:** A fenced backyard is preferred, but we will consider an unfenced yard on a case-by-case basis if your condo or HOA does not allow fencing. Shelties are herding dogs, and they often herd small children, squirrels, bunnies, and more. Unfortunately, some Shelties may also try to herd cars, which is why a fenced yard is crucial for their safety. It only takes a moment for them to run away. Additionally, doors must be kept securely closed to ensure their safety as well. A Sheltie should never be allowed to roam free; when not in a fenced area, it must always be on a leash. - Someone who is home more during the day and has time for a puppy. No crates—use a tall puppy pen or a baby gate to close off a room when you're not home. - Children in the household must be age 8 or older. - We will consider homes with no dogs or up to one small dog (no multi-dog households). A meet and greet may be required. **Included with Adoption Fee:** -Vaccinations are up to date. Deworming is being done. Heartworm and flea prevention are current. A microchip is implanted. The veterinarian has conducted an exam. They will be spayed or neutered on August 19th.
