My story

Everything is brand new to our gorgeous Wiley. He is Farfel's new 9 month old, 33 lb Australian Shepherd who is just waiting to be the love of a dog-crazy family's life. Sweet Wiley sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand, and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then, before you know it, Wiley is loving you up or cuddling close. Wiley is so happy being nearby because his relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Wiley came from a very tough and challenging life. As a result of tough conditions, Wiley may initially be a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he becomes the most loving guy ever! Wiley is an often calm and very sweet dog that wants nothing more than kindness and love. He returns these loving sentiments back to his favorite people a thousand times over. Wiley is such a great age..old enough to be past babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy and active years ahead. His love of the outdoors and his medium size is perfect for hiking the trails of Colorado (and he will love it!) and at days end to cuddle close on the couch or bed all night long. Wiley's New Mexico rescuer had the following to brag about sweet Wiley: This guy is the real deal in his gorgeous looks and super intellect. I had heard that this breed is sooo great and Wiley definitely doesn't disappoint! He also has a heart as big as all outdoors! He falls in love easily and when he does, he loves with every inch of his enormous heart! We envision Wiley with active retirees that are searching for a wonderful fuzzy guy as their best friend. Wiley will blossom with the love and attention that retirees often bestow on their pets. Wiley would also do well with a younger family with older kids (we're always a bit concerned about tail-pulling and awkward handling by very young children) that work from a home-based office. We feel that Wiley is too sensitive a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. This really smart guy will be a natural in positive reinforcement / force free group obedience classes. Wiley will love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that we have no doubt that he'll excel. Farfel's feels so strongly that positive training classes are imperative for the long-term relationship between humans and dogs that we're unwilling to adopt Wiley to a family that doesn't choose a training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force free trainers in your area. Wiley has been vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to stay true to our commitment to end euthanasia in the overpopulated canine community. Wiley will be arriving on transport in the Boulder area on Wednesday August 20,2025. Applications are currently being accepted for our gorgeous pup. If interested in this very cuddly, super-smart and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Wiley please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Wiley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
