My story

Meet Scout! Scout is a 3-month-old Australian Shepherd mix with a heart full of joy and a spirit made for adventure. Weighing about 15 pounds now, this sweet boy still has lots of growing to do, and even more love to give! Scout came to us from Marion County, South Carolina, where he was rescued in rough shape with a severe case of mange. But with the help of some TLC and top-notch veterinary care, Scout's fur is growing back beautifully. Now, Scout is all puppy energy and playful charm. He’s spunky, outgoing, and the life of the party. He's always ready to chase a toy, wrestle with a doggy friend, or explore the world by your side. He’s already crate trained, and he’s working hard on learning all the skills he’ll need to be the perfect family companion. Scout loves other dogs, gets along wonderfully with children, and even does well with cats—he’s truly a well-rounded pup! This little guy is ready to find a forever family that will continue to show him the love and care he deserves. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
