My story

• Name: Oz • Age: 5 years • Sex: Spayed Female • Breed: Shepherd Jindo Mix • Color: Brown/Black • Weight: 14.5kg Background Oz was rescued from a city shelter in October 2022. Despite her gentle nature, she was overlooked for adoption and spent over two years in a boarding facility. She is now preparing for international adoption and is ready to meet her forever family. ‍‍‍ Socialization – People Oz is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She bonds easily not only with familiar faces but also with strangers—often pressing her body against them for pets and cuddles. She loves snuggling and will wedge herself into your arms or lie quietly at your feet if asked to move. She’s a champion cuddler and a true lovebug. Oz is comfortable being picked up (you can slip your arms under her belly), and even new people are often greeted with her rolling over to show her belly. She gets along well with both men and women. She hasn’t shown much interest in young children under 13, but she has not displayed any concerning behavior around them either. Socialization – Dogs When Oz first arrived at the AKR centre in April, she seemed to lack basic social skills with other dogs. While she has made progress and can coexist with some dogs, she still shows selective compatibility. She has previously gotten into scuffles with dominant male dogs or when bumped during mealtime. Because of her strong attachment to humans and her occasional reactivity toward certain dogs, Oz would do best as the only dog in the home. She will thrive in an environment where she can have her humans all to herself. Small Animals Due to her prey drive and reactivity, Oz is not suited for homes with cats or other small animals. Energy Level Oz has a moderate energy level. She enjoys being outdoors and going on walks, but she also knows how to relax and nap after her activities. Walking & Leash Manners Oz is a good walker and generally follows her handler well without pulling. However, she’s more interested in sniffing the world than just walking straight—she may try to guide the route based on smells. Despite that, she remains very responsive to guidance and adjusts easily to her handler’s pace and direction.   Other Behavior Notes • Food: She does not guard food from humans but can be food-possessive around other dogs. Mealtimes should be managed carefully if other dogs are present. • Alone Time: Oz handles alone time well when no one is home, but she may bark to be let out if she sees people around while she’s confined (e.g., in a crate or kennel). • Vocalization: She is not a frequent barker. • Toileting: Currently accustomed to outdoor potty routines. Ideal Home Oz is looking for a loving home where she can be the only pet. She would do best with someone who can appreciate her deep affection, manage her dog selectivity, and offer her a peaceful and structured environment. Oz has so much love to give. She just needs someone willing to open their heart and home to a dog who will never stop being grateful. Let’s get Oz home. Send in your application through our website!  Please also check out her post on our Facebook or Instagram. Currently in Korea — adoptable to Canada & the U.S. ##2480780##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oz, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
