(DOB 06/30/2016) Chewy is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting him. Our rescue will pay for the treatment, and he will be adoptable within a 1 hour radius of Wake Forest, NC during the treatment period. Chewy has the cutest playtime habits, and he will grab his toys and run outside and toss them for himself, and he will do the most adorable happy spins when he's excited. Chewy would love some children in his home (6+ yrs) that want several daily doses of doggie playtime. Chewy's also in need of a fenced yard (4ft+), so he can run, rump and retrieve. He loves fetch, too. Oh, and, Chewy loves playing with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a doggie friend that can match his energy and playful spirit. He play-nips (never bites!) and is very gentle, even with his much older Shih Tzu foster sibling. How darling is that? More great things about Chewy his little size packs a big heart and an even bigger personality! He's a total sweetheart who absolutely loves cuddles and belly rubs. Whether he's curled up beside you on the couch or snuggled in your lap, Chewy is happiest when he’s close to his humans. He’ll gladly sleep on the sofa or in bed with you, and he would much rather be with you than crated (especially when he knows you’re home). Chewy is, also, super smart and eager to please. He knows phrases like “Want to go outside?”, and recognizes it’s time for a car ride when you grab his leash—he rides great in the backseat, too! He’s also learning good food manners whe it comes to eating slowly and doesn't even finish his breakfast and dinner when he is all filled up. On the flip side, he can't seem to help himself, and will try and grab tasty treat from the counter if you aren't watching (we are working on it). Must be all the great cooking going on! Speaking of all those greats treats and food, Chewy doesn't like sharing his treats and meals with other doggies, so feeding seperately is the way to go. Chewy does not love the sound of thunder and will need you to be patient and understanding. He is house and crate trained and is working on walking nicely on a leash. He’s never chewed on anything that isn’t his, and he hasn’t destroyed a thing while in foster care. When introducing Chewy to new people, give him some time and let him be slowly introduced without a lot of rushy-rushy. Keep it cool, calm, and slow...that's the way to go. Chewy is a lovable, silly, loyal companion who would make a wonderful addition to a family ready for fun, play, and lots of snuggles. Come meet this special boy—you’re sure to fall in love! As part of Chewy’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
