My story

Hi! I'm Kip, an 11-year-old Shih Tzu blend boy who weighs 14 pounds. I’m a gentle, quiet guy with a playful, affectionate side.  I’m happy to do my own thing at times, but just as happy to cuddle. General Behavior: Kip is a laid-back guy, patient and quiet. He gets along well with everyone he meets and easily adapts to life as it comes.  Likes & Dislikes: Kip enjoys short walks and snuggles, but thunderstorms – not so much! He can take or leave toys and is not a fan of stairs. Training: Kip is housetrained and has great house manners.  He walks well on a leash, sleeps soundly in his dog bed, and tolerates a car ride. He is food-motivated and curious so he catches on quickly.  Medical: Kip came to us with signs of neglect and currently needs medicated baths twice a week but that’s temporary. Due to untreated eye issues, one eye was removed; the other requires two types of daily drops ($90/month). He also takes thyroid medication (under $10/month) and like all pups, he will need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives. Other Animals: Kip gets along well with other small dogs. He has not been tested with cats, but we think this mellow guy would be fine.   Children: Kip lives with a 5-year-old and isn’t the least bit fazed by the playful chaos around him! Home: Kip would be fine in an apartment, condo, townhome, or single-family residence.  He can be left alone for several hours in the home with no issues. Grooming: Kip will need regular grooming to look and feel his best. Overall: If you are looking for a sweet and gentle companion, Kip may be the one for you!
