My story

Meet Moana – A Big Personality Wrapped in 6 Pounds of Fluff Quick Facts: Breed: Maltese Age: 3 years Weight: 6 lbs House-Trained: Yes – fully housebroken Crate-Trained: Not needed – does well without one Good with Dogs: Yes, with slow introductions (prefers small dogs) Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Older children only – can be mouthy during play Energy Level: High Fence Required: Yes – needs a secure yard for exercise Special Traits: Spunky, affectionate, leash-loving, and bursting with energy in a tiny package Why You’ll Love Moana: Fully housebroken and doesn’t need a crate Loves her people and lights up when they come home Enjoys snuggles and being close to her favorite humans Very enthusiastic about walks and adventures Confident and spunky – always ready for fun Working hard on polite play and leash manners Adorably bouncy and full of life About Moana’s Breed: Maltese dogs are known for their affectionate, bold, and lively personalities. Though tiny in size, they often believe they’re much larger than they are! These intelligent little dogs thrive on companionship and enjoy being involved in family life. Moana is a classic example—she’s lively, sweet, and always ready to go where the action is. Moana’s Story & Personality: Moana is a firecracker in a 6-pound body—full of energy, joy, and sass! At just 3 years old, she’s already proven herself to be incredibly loving and people-oriented. She’s completely housebroken, loves attention, and gets incredibly excited when she sees her harness and leash. She does great without a crate and prefers to be near her humans. Moana is still working on calm leash walking and play behavior, especially around hands—she can be a bit mouthy during play, so a home with older kids who understand gentle boundaries will be the best fit. Moana generally prefers female humans and may bark at males, so patient introductions are needed for any men in the home. She also prefers smaller dogs and can be a bit dominant when meeting new canine friends, but she’s learning appropriate play and adjusting well with time and supervision. She hasn't been cat tested, but she definitely has the spunk and curiosity to keep things interesting. Moana isn’t a calm lap dog—she’s a spirited little girl who needs engagement, structure, and affection. Her ideal home will offer lots of activity, positive reinforcement, and of course, snuggles at the end of a busy day. Moana’s Ideal Home: A patient and loving family who understands small dog energy A securely fenced yard for safe exploration and play An adopter committed to positive training and structured playtime Another small, playful dog would be great – with slow introductions Older kids only, due to her mouthy play style Someone who enjoys a sidekick with sass, sparkle, and tons of love to give Ready to Add a Tiny Sparkplug to Your Life? Moana is looking for a home that can match her energy and offer both structure and affection. She’ll keep you entertained, make you laugh, and snuggle up when the day winds down. If you're ready to share your life with a pint-sized diva full of heart, Moana might just be your perfect match. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!August 12, 2025, 3:31 pm
