My story

Meet Francheska, a young, vibrant girl who was found as a stray on July 29th. Though she came to the shelter with a cherry eye and a few other medical concerns, her joyful spirit shines through every tail wag. When volunteers met her, Francheska was a little hesitant in her kennel, cowering low—but it was clear she was eager to get outside and explore. Once out in the yard, she transformed into a wiggly bundle of energy, joyfully bouncing around and jumping up to ask for pets. She doesn’t seem to have much leash experience and tends to zigzag and bump into things, but she was easy to handle and return to her kennel. Her finder described her as friendly, cuddly, and playful—and that still holds true! Francheska loves human attention and just wants someone to love on her as much as she loves on everyone she meets. Medically, Francheska is currently rescue-only as she heals and receives the care she needs. She has a cherry eye, some hot spots, and healing skin wounds, but she’s been a total champ with handling and has a bright, alert demeanor. At 32 lbs and a little on the thin side, she’s ready for a second chance at life and the love she deserves. Francheska is rescue-only at this time due to her medical needs. If you're a rescue interested in helping this sweet girl, please reach out. Videos: Francheska and August S Wags drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGHDAul8VbU Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 8/1/25: Francheska is full of energy! This little lady was cowering low in her kennel when approached, but was eager to get out of her kennel. She zigzags on leash and will frequently bump into objects and her handler, so I don't think she has been on a leash many times before today. Once in the yard, she would repeatedly jump up at her handler for petting and was super wiggly and non-stop movement. She did not show interest in treats and was easy to return to kennel. Per finder 7/29/25: Friendly, cuddly, playful Medical Notes: 7/31/25: BODY CONDITION SCORE (BCS): 4/9 FAS: 1/5 PAIN SCORE: 0/4 EYES, EARS, NOSE, THROAT: nares, eyes, and ears clean and clear with no discharge. prolapsed nictitating membrane OS.
