My story

UNLOCK HIS QUIET INNER MAGIC WITH 'OPEN SESAME'  DOB 6/9/22 I’m Sesame, a calm, gentle, loving Siamese fella with a story. I am looking for a kind, patient soul . . . someone who can unlock the quiet magic inside me with their presence and with the words, “Open Sesame.” Yes, I know that I’m handsome. With my striking seal-point coat and crystal-blue eyes, I tend to turn heads. But I hope you will take a moment to see past all that because I am not just a pretty face. I survived in a tough neighborhood where people and dogs did not treat stray cats kindly. However a Good Samaritan who fed the strays always saw something special in me. He believed I had a mystical spark, and that is why he named me Sesame. When he could no longer feed me, he arranged for another stray caretaker to foster me in hopes that I would finally find the loving home I always deserved. Please know this -- I’m not a cat who adjusts overnight. I needed Foster Meowmy to move slowly, give me space, and understand that trust takes time. I didn't immediately run up to her, and I didn't jump into her lap or arms on my own. But when she placed me there, I melted. I settled in like I’d been waiting for that moment all my life. Once I felt safe, I started rubbing against her legs for pets, especially that favorite spot under my chin, and I even started softly meowing to chat with her. I’m not aloof, but I just needed to feel secure first. And once I did? I wanted her close. Some of my favorite pastimes are watching the world from a window sill or cat tree, lounging peacefully nearby, and going on slow strolls around the house while Foster Meowmy carries me in her arms. She says that when we share quiet cuddles or just space together, her stress melts away. . . that I bring calm, grounding energy which reminds her to slow down and appreciate the small, beautiful things in life – like me! I came into her life unexpectedly, and in doing so, I helped her find moments of peace she didn’t know she needed. I adore other cats. Even though my spicy foster-cat siblings sometimes hiss or swat at me, I rarely react. I’m peaceful, gentle, and kind. I’ll swat back sometimes but only to restore the balance. Don’t let my chill demeanor fool you, though. I have a playful side too! Give me a wand toy or catnip kicker, and I’ll roll around like a happy kitten.  I’m still cautious at times, especially in new places or around unfamiliar faces. Loud noises and sudden movements scare me, and I can be a clever little escape artist when I’m nervous. So I need a home that’s calm, secure, and predictable. Young children and dogs might be too overwhelming for me. I’m bummed to report that when Foster Meowmy got me fully vetted, I tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), which I probably contracted from the deep bite wound from an intact male cat. (Unlike Feline Leukemia, FIV is NOT passed on "casually" by sharing food bowls and litter boxes with other household cats.) Being FIV positive means that I should live an average life span as long as my dental health is routinely monitored and prompt attention is given to any urinary-tract or upper-respiratory infections.  I will thrive in a quiet, stable home with someone who sees beyond appearances and understands what it means to love slowly and deeply. If you’re calm, kind, and patient . . . if you believe that the best bonds are the ones we build with trust and care . . . then maybe I’ve been waiting for you. And maybe, when the time is right, you’ll say the key words to my heart, “Open Sesame.” HOPE ID 25-0612-G117                                                                                       Sesame’s $100 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Online application: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Sesame will be this week-end, email us at sfenicle@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you.
