My story

Name: ChloeDoB: 12/09/24Adoption Fee: $120     Whit and his sister Chloe, are looking for a forever home. Their story is one of resilience and hope, and are looking for an experienced cat home, that would be ideally suited to help them continue on their healing journey.Chloe and Whit, now seven months old, endured a truly horrific start to life. Abandoned near a busy road in a White Castle parking lot,  in sub-zero temperatures, they spent nearly a month struggling to survive.  They were kicked at as they tried to get in to the restaurant for food and heat.  Cars were trying to run them over in the parking lot, like it was a some kind of sick sport. Sadly, their mother was killed by a car. The constant threat of danger, coupled with well-meaning but ultimately harmful interactions with humans, left them deeply traumatized and fearful.We rescued them from this perilous situation, working with an experienced animal trapper to carefully secure them. Over the past four months, we’ve focused on providing them with exceptional care, gradually rebuilding their trust and addressing their physical and emotional wounds. Significant progress has been made. They are now healthy and have formed a strong bond with their current foster parent, who provides loving care and consistent attention. They readily approach her for petting and play. However, they remain understandably wary of strangers.Chloe, a stunning Siamese, suffered particularly from aggressive attempts to catch and handle her.  People were trying to catch her by hand grabbing at her tail and trying to scruff her without knowing what they were doing.  This has made her more fearful of people over her brother Whit, while still cautious, he is more receptive to gentle interaction. They are currently living with another friendly kitten, Wyn, who has proven beneficial in helping them to socialize and learn that not all people are a threat. Wyn is also available for adoption, and we think Whit would enjoy keeping his current companion. To provide Chloe and Whit with the best possible chance at a happy life, we are seeking a very special kind of home. They need patient, understanding owners who are prepared to commit to a gradual, trust-building process that could take several weeks or even months. This will involve consistent, gentle interaction, providing food on a schedule, not free feeding, while offering comfort, and using playtime as an opportunity to strengthen their bonds. An initial quiet space, free of overwhelming furniture or hiding places, will be essential when they first arrive.A normal meet and greet before adoption will not be possible with their fear of strangers, as introducing them to a stranger directly would cause significant distress,  We would discuss ways to transfer them to a new home, They are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations, and have tested negative for FELV/FIV.We truly believe Chloe and Whit deserve a loving, patient home where they can finally feel safe and secure.
