My story

LOCATED IN CAMBRIDGE, ON DOB: 5 June 2022 Microchipped Have you ever wondered what Wednesday Addams would be like if she was a cat? Well, wonder no more: Penelope is Wednesday in a cat-suit. She’s aloof, indifferent to adults, and completely takes her caregivers for granted. And, she looks sharp in black and white. Penelope came to TCR as a pregnant barn cat. Life in the barn was tough: never enough to eat, popping out kittens, sweltering in summer and freezing in winter. Humans were distant and scary: “Run! Hide!” When she was rescued by plucky TCR volunteers, Penelope and her roommate Elsie raised nine kittens between them. Penelope has embraced living in a home: all-she-can-eat buffets, sofas, air conditioning. Life is good. She loves being a pet, except for the petting part: no touching. No stroking, no cuddling. Like Wednesday Addams, she sees no reason to make an effort to fit in. She is who she is, in all her Penelopeness. Penelope is not unfriendly: she doesn’t hiss or hide. She stretches out on the sofa, and trots into the kitchen at meal times. But reach a hand toward her and she dashes off. Penelope would do best in a home with a friendly, confident cat who could help her understand that humans are actually nice. She’s always lived with cats and easily makes friends with her foster-siblings. She is indifferent to the resident senior dog. Shy cats are funny pets.
