My story

With her soft, light tan coat and soulful eyes, Kara is a quiet reminder that healing takes time — and love is worth waiting for. At 4 years old and 30 lbs, Kara has already lived through more than many dogs her age. She survived on her own for over a year, relying on the kindness of a neighbor who fed her and slowly gained her trust. Thanks to their patience and compassion, Kara was finally brought to safety — and now, she’s ready for the next step in her journey: a forever home. Kara is very shy, but underneath that hesitation is a heart that wants to trust, wants to connect, and wants to love. She’s making progress every day — gentle words, soft touches, and calm companionship help her feel safe. She’ll do best in a quiet, patient home, ideally with another calm dog who can show her the ropes and help her feel more secure. Kara may not be the first to jump into your arms — but when she chooses you, it will be the most rewarding kind of love. Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard. If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted.
