My story

*Matilda is temporarily living in a foster home until they find their family. If you would like to meet Matilda, we recommend scheduling an appointment with one of our Adoptions Specialists, so we can ensure they are here to meet you when you arrive. Please click “Adopt Matilda” to complete an interest survey and one of our Adoptions Specialists will connect with you to set up an appointment!* Matilda is a sweet, shy girl who is slowly learning that people can be safe and kind. When she first arrived in her foster home, she was too nervous to even leave her kennel with people around. With time and patience, she’s started exploring the house, hopping up on couches, enjoying the yard, and even taking a few treats from her foster’s hand. Every little step forward is a big victory for this brave girl! Matilda is still very wary of touch and is especially fearful of leashes and collars, so she’ll need a patient, understanding family willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel secure. Right now, walks aren’t possible, so she’ll do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely spend time outdoors. She’s also found her voice! Once a quiet pup, Matilda now howls to express herself—sometimes during the day, sometimes at night. While her foster family sees this as a sign of her growing confidence, future adopters should be prepared for a very vocal companion. If you would like more info, please email utahadoptions@bestfriends.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Matilda, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
