My story

INTRO This sweetheart is as adorable as they come, with her big brown eyes, and playful personality. Sadie is eager to please once she befriends you. And she may or may not make it her personal mission to kiss your face and be in your lap.  HISTORY Sadie is a young lab mix that was picked up for free outside of a local Walmart. The family who took her was worried she would get into the wrong hands, so they took her home. Due to the size of their family (animals and people), and not having the time or energy to train a puppy, they have decided that finding her a home where she will thrive would be best. They have had her since she was around 6 weeks of age. Sadie is located in Richland, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family! But, if necessary, HART will transport a puppy to an approved adopter in the Pacific Northwest. SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING Sadie currently shares her home with kids under 4 years old, and two large dogs. She is very friendly with everyone she meets. During her assessment, she also met a friendly small dog and friendly large dog, and did very well. She is definitely child friendly, but doesn’t really understand how big she is, and she can be rough and clumsy. Sadie is young enough to learn to live well with another friendly, tolerant older dog, a confident, dog-savvy cat, and whatever other pets may already be part of your family. Sadie loves to play fetch— kind of. She doesn’t understand to bring things back quite yet, but she will run after a ball happily. When she isn’t playing in the yard or trying to figure out toys, she loves to snuggle up and be in your lap. She has endless kisses to offer in exchange for a belly rub, but she will give them for free too! Sadie doesn’t have a lot of training under her belt yet, but she is young and eager to learn. She will work for treats, and loves praise, and she'd love you to take her to school so she can learn ALL the skills she needs to be her best self. She has not been on a leash too many times, nor has she ever been crated. She is still working on potty training. It's important to remember: Sadie is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little girl is just getting started - she has sharp nails and needle teeth, and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as she’s concerned, anything and everything is for play. She still has everything to learn about being civilized member of a mainly-human family. She will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Sadie unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise her right! HEALTH STATUS General info She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. Once full grown, she will likely be somewhere in the 50-70 lbs range. HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Sadie has not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 6 months old. At your request, HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization. ADOPTION The adoption fee for Sadie is $425.
