My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Thomas Taylor is a young and extremely handsome Great Pyrenees with gorgeous long, fluffy fur, and he’s ready to find his furever home! This sweet and silly boy is the perfect co-couch potato who believes he's a lap dog and lives for pets, belly rubs, and being loved on by his people. He is housebroken, walks well on leash, and has a very low activity level that makes him ideal for a family seeking a gentle giant companion. He's excellent with children of all ages, including young kids since he doesn't jump up or run around much. Thomas Taylor gets along wonderfully with dogs and loves to play and snuggle with his current foster siblings. He's also fantastic with cats, sometimes playfully rushing at them but always stopping short of contact, and he peacefully coexists with the resident Hermann's tortoise too! This devoted boy prefers to be inside with his family rather than spending time in the yard, and requires only a 4-foot fence. He's wonderful with visitors and new people, showing his loving nature to everyone he meets. While he can be nervous during storms and loud noises, he oddly tolerates drumming just fine and will even nap through it! Some of his favorite treats include peanut butter and cheese! Despite having a heart condition that veterinary specialists initially predicted would limit his lifespan to around age two, Thomas Taylor has surpassed expectations and remains lively and happy, though he does tire out more quickly than typical dogs and he's sensitive to heat, so short walks in temperate weather are perfect for him. Thomas Taylor’s ideal home is with other non-territorial dogs, people who are home frequently, or a larger family with plenty of members to shower him with attention. This big fluffy guy is ready to be your devoted companion who will follow you around the house, and have his day made with just a treat and a hug! If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. August 4, 2025, 12:44 pm
