My story

Meet Rocket Bro—your new personal shadow, life coach, and uninvited Zoom cohost all rolled into one gloriously nosy, outrageously loyal package. He doesn’t just want to be near you—he wants to be in your business, preferably with full commentary and eye contact. Reading a book? He’s got notes. Cooking dinner? He’s quality control. Folding laundry? He’s the foreman. Basically, if you’ve been searching for a best friend who thinks privacy is a myth and boundaries are for the weak... congratulations. You’ve found your soulmate. Rocket Bro, is a 6–7 month old, 25lb Border Collie/Aussie mix who somehow managed to find himself in a shelter, along with his brother Dutch Bro, despite having the personality of a golden retriever on espresso and the face of a cartoon sidekick. Quite unbelievable, honestly. Rocket Bro is a social butterfly with a jetpack. He loves other dogs—like, borderline fanboy energy. If there’s a pup within 50 feet, Rocket is already in motion, running circles around them like he’s trying to summon a portal to the Zoomiverse. He’s the guy who shows up to the dog park and immediately acts like he’s known everyone since kindergarten. As for cats—he hasn’t met any yet, but given his general “everything is fun and friendship!” vibe, he’d probably try to play with them... until they ruin his optimism with a swift bop to the nose. Kids? He hasn’t had much exposure in his foster home, but based on his all-people-are-awesome philosophy, he’d likely adore them. That said, he’s got that classic Aussie launch-and-love greeting style, so tiny humans might get more love than they bargained for. Think excited jumping bean with legs and feelings. Nothing a little training and some emotional bribery (aka treats) won’t fix. Overall, Rocket Bro is ready to be someone’s ride-or-die bestie—preferably one who doesn’t mind being shadowed 24/7 and occasionally tackled with love. Energy level? Oh, he’s a 9 out of 10, easy. Picture the unstoppable enthusiasm of a golden retriever combined with the herding instincts of an Aussie—wrapped in the compact body of a dog who thinks every moment is the best moment ever. He’s a total adventure buddy in the making. Whether you’re heading to the park, checking the mail, or just walking to the kitchen for a snack—he’s already there, tail wagging and ready to assist. But despite all that puppy energy, he also has a surprising ability to settle in and chill when it’s time. He’ll watch you from behind the gate like the world’s cutest foreman, making sure your chores meet inspection standards. His temperament? Just plain joyful. He’s playful, curious, and full of that sweet, goofy puppy energy that makes you forgive the fact that he has no idea where the ball went—but he’s thrilled you threw it anyway. Toys are his love language. He’s not picky—anything soft, squeaky, or remotely carryable becomes part of his personal collection, which he proudly distributes like confetti across the puppy yard and living room. Rocket Bro would thrive best in a home with a securely fenced yard—not because he’s trying to escape, but because his little legs need room to zoom. Apartment life might cramp his style unless you’re a dedicated leash-walker with plenty of time and patience. He’s still a baby, after all, learning the ropes and figuring out the world. He’s the kind of dog who makes you laugh when you’re grumpy, who always wants to be where you are, and who will look at you like you hung the moon—even if you just accidentally bonked him with the laundry basket. Rocket Bro is ready to be someone’s sidekick, snuggle buddy, and adventure partner—and all he’s waiting for is you. Potty trained? Absolutely. Rocket Bro is already ahead of the curve, keeping his puppy room impressively clean both day and night—like the tidy little overachiever he is. Even with the doggy door closed overnight, he holds it like a champ until the humans wake up at the unspeakable hour of 5 a.m. (because apparently that’s when the world starts now). As for kenneling—he hasn’t needed a crate because he’s been baby gated in the puppy room, and honestly? He’s nailed it. Rocket Bro can bark—but let’s just say he’s not out here trying to run a 24-hour news cycle. He’ll give you a polite “ahem” in the early morning hours to let you know he needs a potty break (honestly, that’s just good communication), and he might toss in a few joyful yips when he sees you—because, well, you’re his favorite human and it’s exciting! He has not been a big chewer. That said—he is still a puppy. So yes, puppy-proofing is highly recommended unless you're aiming for some one of a kind Rocket designed shoes and custom ventilation in your socks. So, if you’ve made it this far and you’re thinking, “Wow, I need this adorable ball of fluff and happiness in my life,” congratulations—you might be the chosen one. But hold your horses (or your Aussies). First, you’ve gotta fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app like the responsible adult we hope you are. And just so we’re crystal clear—Rocket Bro isn’t teleporting to you. You’ll need to actually drive your lovely self to Oklahoma City to pick him up. Yes, we know—tragedy. But hey, road trips build character. And trust us, he’s worth the mileage (plus, he might even ride shotgun if you bribe him with snacks). Apply now. Rocket Bro’s already waiting to dramatically fall in love with you at first sniff.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rocket Bro, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
